Dr. Nobukatsu Ishikawa, MD.,
(Member of JCMA since 1960s, JOCS worker in Bangladesh(1978-86). Speciality: TB control and international health. Member of Kiyose Baptist Church in Tokyo)
Dr. Ishikawa graduated from the School of Medicine, Tokyo University in 1967. Through the experiences in Nepal with Dr. Noboru Iwamura who was a JOCS worker to United Mission to Nepal, he decided to work overseas and joined the TB Institute (RIT/JATA) in Tokyo. During 1978-86, he worked in Bangladesh sent by the Japan Overseas Christian Medical Cooperative Service (JOCS) to Christian Health Care Project under NCC of Bangladesh. He developed a model of community-based TB programme in Bangladesh with NGOs and the government TB Program. After he returned to Japan in 1986, as a staff of RIT, he has been following-up the project developed under JOCS, and also worked for WHO and JICA in several countries with main focus on community based TB care. He is currently Director Emeritus of RIT/JATA.
