Short Bio: | Dr. Shoei-Shen Wang is Emeritus Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery. In addition to vascular surgery including endovascular surgery of aorta (endovascular aneurysm repair EVAR, thoracic endovascular aortic repair TEVAR) and varicose vein (endovenous radiofrequency EVRF, or endovenous laser treatment EVLT), his major interest is surgical treatment of heart failure including ventricular assist and heart transplantation. Dr. Wang received his M.D. degree in 1977 and obtained his Ph.D. thesis in rat heart transplantation in 1987. In 1997, he was appointed Professor of Surgery at the National Taiwan University. From 2002 to 2004, he was elected President of Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Taiwan. He founded Taiwan Society for Vascular Surgery in 2005 and Taiwanese Society for Phlebology in 2010. From 2011 to 2014, he was elected President of the Transplantation Society of Taiwan. He published the first Chinese textbook of “Heart transplantation”, “Handbook on nursing of heart transplantation” and other Chinese textbooks such as “Cardiovascular surgery”, “Vascular diseases”, “Venous disease and vascular access”. He held successful meetings of “2007 Asian Congress of International Union of Angiology (IUA)”, “2011 Annular Congress of Asian Society of Vascular Surgery (ASVS)” and “The Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS) 2016” in Taipei, Taiwan. He is a frequently invited lecturer, and has more than 400 original articles published. |
